NECK DOWN Synopsis:
Set in New York City in 2021 at a lot-viewing appointment the morning before an ancient coin auction, three characters duet with the voices in their heads about lottery winnings, caskets, sex fantasies, delusions of grandeur, Diaghilev, and Big Oil Banks, and mount a tragicomic class stand-off and a toast to the heroism of broke artists.
Directed by Princess Grace Award-winner Marissa Joyce Stamps ("Being Up in Here and All the Other Businesses that Don't Concern You"), with a cast led by Cristina Pitter ("BONDiNG" on Netflix, "Behind the Sheet"), this production synthesizes the paranoid, righteous, and surreal national consciousnesses that have fermented since the COVID-19 pandemic. With the punishing gig economy under the microscope, the play explores the relentless spirit of artists and the heroic force necessary to lead a culture away from calamity.
