Hello to anyone interested in doing an event in our Backspace! We are thrilled to have moved into this expanded storefront in December 2022 which functions as a multipurpose space — shop in the front, and all types of ✨happenings✨ in the back. In the past two years we've been hosting local artist markets, live music, poetry readings, weekly yoga classes, crafting workshops, kids' events, private parties, and so much more! We're excited to see what new ideas can come to life here in the future....

And so, we're inviting folks to submit ideas they'd like to bring to fruition at some point in the coming year! This could include....

• Artists & makers who'd like to participate in our pop-up markets (which is also the entry point for possibly bringing work onto the shop shelves)

• Musicians looking to perform a show

• Performance artists — dance, movement, theater, etc — interested in a performance space

• Artists interested in leading workshops or classes for the community

• And so much more!

A few things to be aware of for this Open Call.... 

Submissions will be accepted from March 15th to 31st, 2025. After the end of the submission window, we will be excited to review all the entries and will send replies & follow-ups by mid-May. Our programming evolves organically throughout the year, creating new opportunities to collaborate with artists and makers along the way. We’re excited to read ideas from across the community and beyond during this open call so we can connect, co-create, and begin planning meaningful new offerings for the year ahead!  

All open call applicants will be notified by May 15th as to whether their idea feels like a possible good fit for our programming in the coming year. For the ideas we do see as potential happenings, our reply will include an invitation and timeframe for holding follow-up discussions based on the scope and nature of the idea. All other applicants will also hear back from us by May 15th and will be invited to reapply in future open calls if they wish!
